This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how Informed, Inc. (“Informed”, the “Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) may collect, use, and disclose your personal information in connection with products and services offered through Informed, our website, www.informediq.com, or our social media accounts such as on Youtube or LinkedIn (collectively, the “Services”).
This Policy covers the treatment of personal information gathered when you use or access the Services, as well as personal information shared between us and any third parties for use in connection with the Services. By submitting your personal information to the Company, you are consenting to the collection and processing of your personal information and to our use of your personal information in the manner described in this Policy. If you are submitting personal information about third parties to us, you warrant and represent you have their consent to provide their personal information to the Company and will indemnify Informed and hold the Company harmless from and against claims by such individuals relating to the Company’s processing and use of such personal information within the terms of this Policy. By “personal information,” we mean information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or that can reasonably be used to identify an individual.
Information We Collect
Online Activities. When you use our Services, we may collect information about your visit and store that information, which are records of the activities relating to the use of our Services. Our servers automatically capture and save the information electronically. The information we collect helps us administer the Services, analyze usage, protect our websites and their content from inappropriate use, and improve the visitor’s experience. The information may be used for marketing purposes and may uniquely distinguish your browser or computer from others’ devices. Examples of information that we may collect or that third parties may collect while you navigate our website include, but are not limited to:
- Your Internet protocol or “IP” address;
- The name of your Internet service provider;
- The city and state from which you access our website;
- The type and version of browser, operating system, computer, or mobile device you use;
- Screen resolution;
- A list of your browser’s plug-ins;
- Installed fonts;

- Certain searches/queries that you conducted via our Services; and
- Any forms you fill out or information from your visits to our social media accounts on LinkedIn and YouTube.
Cookies. When a visitor uses our website, we may send one or more cookies – small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters – to your device. We may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the website. Please review your web browser “Help” file to learn the proper way to modify your cookie settings. Please note that if you delete, or choose not to accept, cookies from the website, you may not be able to utilize the features of the website to their fullest potential. For instance, we use Google Analytics to collect and process certain analytics data. Google provides some additional privacy options described here regarding Google Analytics cookies. We also may use these technologies to collect information regarding your interaction with email messages, such as whether you opened, clicked on, or forwarded a message. This information is gathered from all users, and may be connected with other information about you.
Some website content is served by third parties. These third parties may use cookies, alone or in conjunction with web beacons or other tracking technologies, to collect information about you when you use our website. The information they collect may be associated with your personal information or they may collect information, including personal information, about your online activities over time and across different websites and other online services.
We do not control these third parties’ tracking technologies or how they may be used. If you have any questions about an advertisement or other targeted content, you should contact the responsible provider directly.
Do-Not-Track. “Do-Not-Track” was a public-private initiative to develop a signal to indicate the user did not wish to be tracked across websites, but most websites, including ours, did not recognize this signal due to the lack of a uniform standard. However, Informed recognizes and honors newer universal opt-out signals where users activate a setting within their browser to notify websites that they do not wish to be tracked by third parties across the internet. If your browser supports it, you can turn on the Global Privacy Control (GCP) to opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your Personal Information.
You may also follow the steps provided by initiatives that educate users on how to set tracking preferences for most online advertising tools. These resources include the Network Advertising Initiative (https://thenai.org/about-online-advertising/) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (https://digitaladvertisingalliance.org/). The Digital Advertising Alliance also offers an application called AppChoices (https://youradchoices.com/appchoices) that helps users to control interest-based advertising on mobile apps.
Your Transactions With Us. We also collect information you give us directly, including:
- Information you give us on applications or other forms, such as transaction documents, online forms, e-mails, registration forms, or other documents or submissions related to the services we provide, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, and employment information;
- Information about your transactions with us;
- Information we may receive from third parties in order to provide the product or service you requested;
- Information we may obtain to verify representations made by you.
- Contact information, including SMS and email, for purposes of our marketing to you. You have the right to opt out of marketing communications by following the opt-out instructions in those communications.
How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to provide and improve our products and services, including the Services, for purposes in our legitimate interests, and for compliance with applicable laws. The Company processes personal information on the basis that it is: (a) necessary for the performance of a contract the Company has with you; (b) in our or a third party’s legitimate interests; (c) where you give us your consent; (d) for compliance with a legal obligation; or (e) as the law otherwise allows. For example, we use existing customer contact information to communicate to them newsletters, press releases, and other company announcements, which may include marketing messages.
We may use your IP address to, among other things: (a) help diagnose problems with our server, administer the Services, measure the use of the Services, and improve the content of the Services; (b) identify visitors’ domain names, the type of web browsers used, the pages viewed, the websites from which a visitor found the Services, the search terms and search engines used to find the Services; and (c) gather other web analytics information relating to visitors’ use and navigation of the Services. This information does not identify you personally. On occasion the Company may aggregate this data with data on the pages visited by other users to track overall visitor traffic patterns and provide this aggregate information to vendors, potential advertisers, business partners, or other parties to demonstrate the amount of interest in the Services and to help the Company plan for technical infrastructure requirements.
The Company may share your personal information and any other information you provide to us with our affiliates, referral partners, financial service providers, or other business partners in connection with any of the activities described in this Privacy Policy or otherwise engaged in by you through your use of the Services. Note that the Company does not have any responsibility for the actions or policies of any business partners, many of which may themselves have relationships with other businesses. You should satisfy yourself about how your information may be used by any business partner.
The Company may use the information it collects and that you provide in an anonymous or aggregated format that does not identify you personally, which uses might include, without limitation, to evaluate existing products, services, and systems; to assist in the development of new products or services; research; and to identify trends and changes.
We may disclose personal information in any of the following circumstances: (a) in response to a subpoena, search warrant, court order, or other legal process or request, or as may otherwise be required by applicable law or regulation; (b) to protect and defend the Company’s rights or property or those of its affiliates or business partners, or others; or (c) as the Company, in its sole discretion, believes is appropriate under exigent circumstances in response to a perceived threat to the personal safety, property, or rights of any person or organization.
Your Choices
You may, of course, decline to share certain information with us, in which case we may not be able to provide you some of the features and functionality of the website. Please note that we may retain some personal information for a reasonable period of time as allowed by law for purposes of backups, archiving, prevention of fraud and abuse, analytics, satisfaction of legal obligations, or where we otherwise reasonably believe that we have a legitimate reason to do so, as allowed by law.
You may opt-in to certain communications from us such as receiving our blog or a one-time White Paper. If you receive commercial email from us, you may unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions contained within the email.
Third Party Websites
The website may contain features or links to websites and websites provided by third parties. Any information you provide on third-party sites or websites is provided directly to the operators of such websites and is subject to those operators’ policies, if any, governing privacy and security, even if accessed through the website. We are not responsible for the content or privacy and security practices and policies of third-party sites or websites to which links or access are provided through the website. We encourage you to learn about third parties’ privacy and security policies before providing them with information.
Children's Privacy
Protecting the privacy of young children is especially important. Our Site is a general audience site not directed to children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18 without obtaining parental consent.
Data Security
The Company takes reasonable precautions to protect the security of data and information, including personal information. We will attempt to ensure that your personal information is subject to appropriate safeguards and that it is processed and secured in accordance with applicable law. However, we cannot guarantee against any loss, misuse, unauthorized disclosure, or alteration or destruction of data or personal information. While the Company strives to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to, from, or within the Services, by email or otherwise, and you provide such information at your own risk. You acknowledge that: (a) there are security and privacy limitations in computer systems and on the Internet which are beyond the control of the Company; (b) the security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and the Company through the Services, including personal information, cannot be guaranteed; and (c) any such information and data, including personal information, may be viewed or tampered with by a third party while such information or data is being used, transmitted, processed, or stored.
International Visitors
The website is hosted in the United States and is intended for visitors located within the United States. If you choose to use the website from the European Union or other regions of the world with laws governing data collection and use that may differ from U.S. law, then please note that you are transferring your personal information outside of those regions to the United States for storage and processing. Also, we may transfer your data from the U.S. to other countries or regions in connection with storage and processing of data, fulfilling your requests, and operating the website. By providing any information, including personal information, on or to the website, you consent to such transfer, storage, and processing.
Changes and Updates to this Policy
Please revisit this page periodically to stay aware of any changes to this Policy, which we may update from time to time. Supplemental Notice to California Residents
Below we provide information required under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”). This notice covers information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular California resident. But some information is exempt from the CCPA and thus not covered in this notice. We are a business-to-business enterprise and typically do not collect personal information directly from consumers acting in a personal or household capacity, except when you visit our Services (i.e., our website and social media pages). This notice covers information collected from the Services and from individuals acting in a commercial capacity under California law, such as individuals employed by our customers or prospective customers acting on behalf of their business. It also excludes information covered by certain sector-specific privacy laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act of 1994 because those categories of data are exempt from the CCPA.
Request to Know
You may request no more than twice in any 12-month period and, subject to verification of your identity and certain exemptions, we will provide:

- Our business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing for purposes of cross-contextual advertising your Personal Information.
- The specific pieces of Personal Information we collected about you.
Request to Delete
You may request that we delete Personal Information we have collected from you, subject to verification of your identity and the exceptions provided by law. If you do not delete your account, however, we may retain Personal Information to provide services requested. We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us or our service providers to:
- Complete the transaction for which we collected the personal information, provide a good or service that you requested, take actions reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform our contract with you.
- Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities.
- Debug products to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality.
- Exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise their free speech rights, or exercise another right provided for by law.
- Comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act (Cal. Penal Code § 1546 seq.).
- Engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when the information’s deletion may likely render impossible or seriously impair the research’s achievement, if you previously provided informed consent.
- Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us.
- Comply with a legal obligation.
- Make other internal and lawful uses of that information that are compatible with the context in which you provided it.
Request to Correct
You may request that we correct inaccurate Personal Information we have collected from you, subject to verification of your identity and exceptions provided by law.
Request Not to Sell or Share Personal Information
You have the right to opt-out from having your Personal Information and Sensitive Personal Information sold to third parties. You also have the right to opt-out from having your Personal Information and Sensitive Personal Information shared with third parties for purposes of cross-contextual advertising. Note the Company no actual knowledge of any sales of Personal Information or Sensitive Personal Information of minors under 16 years of age.
Request to Limit Use and Disclosure
You may request that we limit the use and disclosure of your Sensitive Personal Information. These rights are subject to various exclusions and exceptions under applicable laws and are also subject to our being able to reasonably verify your identity and authority to make a request. To facilitate this verification, you must provide us with your full legal name and mailing address, and we may need to request further information.
Please note that these rights apply to select California consumers. Only you, or an agent you authorize to act on your behalf may make a verifiable consumer request related to your Personal Information. You may only make a verifiable consumer request for access or data portability twice within a 12-month period. The verifiable consumer request must provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative, so it must include your name, address, and phone number.
To authorize another person to make a verifiable request on your behalf, you must provide that person with written permission clearly describing their authority to make a request on your behalf. That agent must also be able to verify their identity with us and provide us with their authority to act on your behalf. An individual to whom you have provided Power of Attorney pursuant to Sections 4000 – 4465 of the California Probate Code may also make a request on your behalf. If your request is denied, you will be provided with a method to appeal this finding. You may also authorize someone to exercise the above rights on your behalf. If you wish to do so, your authorized agent must submit signed permission from you to make a request on your behalf, and we may still verify your identity directly. If we have collected information on your minor child, you may exercise the above rights on behalf of your minor child. As the Sites are intended only for individuals ages 18 or older, we do not intentionally collect information about minors. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 18 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. We cannot respond to your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you.
Making a verifiable consumer request does not require you to create an account with us. However, we do consider requests made through your password protected account sufficiently verified when the request relates to personal information associated with that specific account.
We will only use personal information provided in a verifiable consumer request to verify the requestor’s identity or authority to make the request.
California’s “Shine the Light” Law Opt-Out
